Southern Dishes for the Soul is more than a cookbook, it's a heartfelt journey through family, faith, and the rich culinary traditions of the South. Authored by Dale Payne, this collection of recipes is deeply rooted in her upbringing in 1950s and 60s Alabama, where she learned to cook at an early age alongside her mother and grandmother. From skinning catfish to baking fluffy biscuits, Dale’s skills were shaped by generations of homegrown wisdom and the rustic rhythms of country life.
Each dish carries a story of love, survival, and legacy woven through memories of family gardens, homemade preserves, and Sunday meals. With strong ties to her Christian faith, Mrs. Dee infuses this book with scripture and uplifting reflections meant to nourish both body and spirit. Whether you're looking for comforting recipes or words of encouragement, Southern Dishes for the Soul offers a rich serving of both.
About the Author
Dale Payne is a Southern home cook whose love for food and family was born in the kitchens of Alabama during the 1950s and ’60s. Raised in a home rooted in faith, tradition, and self-sufficiency, Dale grew up preparing everything from wild game to homemade biscuits. Her passion for cooking is matched by her deep love for Christ, and through her writing, she shares not only her favorite recipes but also the stories and scriptures that have shaped her life.
