Ron Sweeney is a prominent entertainment attorney, manager, consultant, and former record executive who has managed major artists and practiced law for over forty years. He has been named by Billboard Magazine as one of the top music lawyers in the business for the last 5 years. Sweeney has represented some of the biggest artists in the world as an attorney and/or manager for James Brown, Kool & the Gang, Klymaxx, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Morris Day, Eazy-E, DMX, Sean "Puffy” Combs, Lil Wayne, Young Money, and others. At the age of 25, Sweeney became the attorney for the “Black Godfather” of the music business, Clarence Avant. Watch the documentary on Netflix and you will understand the significance.
Sweeney worked for Sony Music as an Executive Vice President of Sony Music Corporate and he reported directly to the Chairman of the company. He was also President of the Epic Urban Group. In that position, he dealt with everyone from Michael Jackson to Sade. He was directly responsible for signing numerous Platinum and Gold selling acts. He signed Ginuwine, RZA, Ghostface Killer, Cameron, Cappadona, Lil Bow Wow, and others.
